Customizing your invoice template ensures your billing documents are professional and contain all the necessary information, including your payment details. Here is how to access and edit your invoice templates in Bullet.
You can check a video overview below:
Step 1: Navigate to Invoice Settings
- Go to the Hub located at the top-left corner of the screen and click on it.
- From the drop-down menu, select Accounts and Payroll.
- Once on the Accounts and Payroll homepage, look at the left-hand menu.
- Click on the Invoices section.
- Select Settings from the drop-down options.
Step 2: Edit the Default Template
You will land on the Invoice Template page, where you will see at least one default template.
- Under the template, you will find several action buttons (View, Delete, Edit, Set as Default). Click Edit.
- This will open the template customization screen. On the left, you’ll see fields to fill in; on the right, you’ll see a live preview of the template.
Step 3: Customize Template Details
Go through the following sections on the left menu to customize your template:
- Logo and Banner: Upload your company logo and a banner image (if desired) to brand the invoice.
- Template Name: Provide a unique name for this template, especially if you plan to create multiple versions.
- Company Information: Review and edit the pre-filled fields for your Company Name, Address Line 1 & 2, Phone Number, and Web address (you can link your website or social media).
- Terms and Conditions: Add any additional information you want your client to see, such as payment terms, refund policies, or specific instructions.
- Invoice Bank Account: This is crucial for getting paid. Choose from the drop-down menu to select the bank account details you wish to display.
Note on Bank Accounts: The bank accounts listed in the drop-down must be connected in the Bank Account section of your Accounts and Payroll menu, AND you must have enabled the setting on the bank account itself to “Use on Invoices.” If you don’t see an account, you need to add one or check its settings.
Step 4: Review and Save
- After filling in all the desired fields, click Review.
- Check the live preview on the right one last time to ensure everything looks correct.
- Click Save.
Step 5: Choose Next Steps
Once the template is saved, you will be given a list of options:
- Create an invoice using this new template.
- Add another invoice template.
- Add Stripe or PayPal to your invoices.
- Change text when emailing invoices.
You can select any of these options or click Continue to be sent back to the Invoice Settings page, where you can see all your available invoice templates.
